Geotab Energy already owns the operator-relationship and the demand-forecasting data plumbing; adding a 'retire/downgrade recommendation' output is a two-sprint feature on top of their existing product. The core defensibility thesis required a proprietary EV fleet-mix dataset showing how sodium-ion entry EVs reduce dwell time — a dataset that does not yet exist and could not be built before Geotab responds. The positional pivot (from siting positive to asset retirement) was a salvage of occupied territory, not a genuine gap.
